Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's 5th annual Best Software Awards

Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's Best Software Awards 2006 celebrate and honor the efforts of independent developers, whose software products help make your Windows Mobile device more functional and fun!

The awards are divided into three sections: consumer software for Pocket PCs, consumer software for Smartphones, and software for developers. Windows Mobile experts from around the world voted on 768 products in 130 categories. The products with the highest vote totals were selected as winners, and runners up were named finalists.

From May through July Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's New Products Editor, Diane Dumas, and our Board of Expert judges selected the 2005 nominees. Approximately 25% of the over 3000 software products in the PocketPCmag.com Encyclopedia of Software and Accessories were nominated. Special thanks goes to Chris Forsberg (http://www.businessanyplace.net) and Bob Katayama (http://www.han-d-solutions.com) who headed a team of experts to determine nominations for Developer Software. Outstanding Achievement awards

Each year Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine gives Community Outstanding Achievement Awards. These annual awards are given to individuals and their organizations whose extraordinary contributions benefit the entire Windows Mobile community. This year we focus on those individuals who support users in the Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine's online forums (http://www.smartphonemag.com/forum).

Board of Experts

Our Board of Experts is comprised of over 80 Windows Mobile, Pocket PC, and Smartphone software experts from around the world. These experts are prominent Windows Mobile Web Sites Webmasters and Editors, Microsoft MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals), support forum contributors, authors, and Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine contributors. They are all volunteers and none are employed by Smartphone & Pocket PC magazine.

Members cast their on-line ballot for first, second, and third place for each category they vote in. The highest point count determines winners and finalists. The judges' comments from when they voted will be published in Smartphone & Pocket PC throughout 2006.
