ENTER NOTES IN CALENDAR, TASKS, AND CONTACTS
The Pocket Outlook applications on the Pocket PC and Handheld PC let you enter notes with each individual item. This can come in handy for a number of reasons.
With Calendar appointments, you might want to attach meeting notes, document the outcome of a phone call, list items you want to pick up, etc. With Tasks, you might want to enter one major task (e.g., "winterize automobile"), but list sub-items of the task (change oil, flush radiator, and check tires). With individual Contacts you might want to keep a log of calls and things you talked about and make notations of the contact's interests, the names of spouse and children, etc.).
On the Pocket PC, notes are displayed in the bottom two-thirds of the individual item screen in Calendar and Tasks (Screen 1). However, in Contacts you must tap on the Notes tab at the bottom of the individual item screen to view the notes.

Screen 1: On the Pocket PC, Calendar and Tasks notes are displayed in the bottom two-thirds of the individual item screen.
Notes are displayed differently on the Handheld PC. In Calendar and Tasks they are displayed in the lower-right window of the individual item dialog box (Screen 2). In Contacts, they are not displayed until you open an individual item and tap on the Notes icon (right-most in a group of three icons immediately below the OK button). This displays a dialog box with notes on the left and category list on the right.

Screen 2: On the H/PC Calendar and Tasks notes are displayed in the lower-right window of the individual item dialog box.
Note that all of the information in any of these notes' fields is synchronized with Outlook on your desktop PC.
BRING DATABASE FILES WITH YOU--VIEW IN POCKET EXCEL
Most desktop PC database programs let you export data in Excel spreadsheet format. That means that you can bring almost any database with you and view it in Pocket Excel on the Handheld PC or Pocket PC. However, you will only be able to view the data in table format and it may also be inconvenient to bring large databases with you.

FREE UP FILE STORAGE SPACE
A universal truth concerning any computer is that the file storage space will fill up at least twice as fast as you think it will.
On your Pocket PC, to see how much file storage space you have available, tap on Start>Settings>System>Memory (Screen 3). The bar in the center of the screen gives you a graphical representation of how your internal memory is divided between storage and program use. The Pocket PC will change this division of memory automatically, depending on the needs of the system. It will even close down applications that aren't being used to make program memory available for another application. The dark blue bar indicates the available storage and program memory. This information is also given as numeric data directly below the bar. Tap on the Storage Card tab at the bottom of the screen to see the space available on your storage card.
