Uniden UniPro PC100 ships in September

Uniden has announced that its Palm-size PC will ship in late September, and will be priced at $379. The UniPro will come with an internal 28.8 modem, a high resolution screen (240x320, .24mm). It will ship with 4 MB of RAM memory, but will be upgradeable to 8 MB by the user. The UniPro will also ship with a docking station. Cassiopeia E-11 Palm-size PC

Casio has just released a new version of their popular Palm-size PC. The Cassiopeia E-11 will come with 8 MB of RAM built in, a Type II compatible CompactFlash slot, and an AC adapter. The E-11 will come with the following additional bonus software: Randsoft Harmony 98 synchronization software; the PalmGolf game; an Image Viewer for photos taken on Casio digital cameras; and Casio Menu. Lotus Organizer 5.0 to synchronize with Windows CE

Lotus Development announced the latest versions of its popular desktop PIM Organizer 5.0 will synchronize with Windows CE devices and other popular PDAs. Synchronization software for Windows CE devices will be priced at $24.95, but a free trial version of the software is available on the Organizer Web site at www.lotus.com/home.nsf/welcome/organizer.

Legend to make Palm-size PC

Chinese computer manufacturer Legend Holdings Ltd will develop and market a Palm-sized PC using a Chinese language version of Windows CE that will use an input method that will recognize Chinese characters. The device is slated to be released towards the end of this year or the first part of 1999, and will sell for 3,500 yuan ($420).

Enhancement Pack for Embedded System Toolkit

The Windows CE 2.1 Enhancement Pack for the Windows CE Embedded Toolkit should be available by the time you read this announcement. The Enhancement Pack is used by developers to create advanced embedded solutions based on the Windows CE 2.0 and 2.1 operating systems. The package includes sample device driver code, C/C++ cross-compilers, and assemblers to write device drivers for target platforms. Also included is sample application code, downloading and remote debugging tools.

Current users of the Windows CE Embedded Toolkit can get the Enhancement Pack for $14.95. New versions of the Windows CE Embedded Toolkit for Visual C++ 5.0, retailing for $499, will have the Enhancement Pack included. Clarion Auto PC in final beta testing -- should ship in October/November
