10 for 9 in '08 - Skyforce Reloaded (the oops edition)
It turns out that I inadvertently left out the category of Scrolling Shooters when I made all of the posts for this article. Unfortunately, my favorite scrolling shooter for the PocketPC didn't actually get nominated this year, which I suppose was my fault. In lieu of that the clear pick was Skyforce Reloaded, which was still a very good game in this genre.
Skyforce Reloaded is definitely an exhilarating scrolling shooter. There are nine levels, and each level has three goals: destroy a certain percentage of the enemy, collect stars, and rescue hostages. Only the first goal is required on each level, but it's nice to have something to do besides just blowing everything away. The visuals are quite stunning to behold. Certain structures and rock formations provide a nice illusion of depth, and the ability to fly underneath clouds heightened that illusion. Special effects such as smoke trails, explosions, and rain looked very nice. The music was well orchestrated, and there were several times I caught myself leaving the game on while working on other things just to listen to the soundtrack.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that my favorite scroller didn't get nominated, so I picked Skyforce Reloaded instead. My favorite scroller is actually Claygun, which I thought was a much more original game than Skyforce Reloaded.

Oops, my bad. I was in hurry and haven't spent much time on making sure I actually understood what you meant. Sorry!
Not a problem. I realized
Not a problem. I realized after I read your response that maybe I should have mentioned Claygun in my original post. I'm just glad that someone is reading my posts :)
