The well-known Pocket PC board, AximSite, has always had a very nice tutorial on (mostly) picking and using third-party software on Dell Axim Pocket PC's. Being focussed on third-party software means not only Dell Axim users may benefit from reading it, but also owners of any Pocket PC device. I really recommend the article - it covers almost every usage area of Pocket PC and is really up-to-date. It also has a lot of links to external articles for further info (several dozens of them having been written by me BTW ;) ).
