Q: How do I install skins for Windows Media Player? A: 1, get the skin. In this tutorial, I use Darius Wey's Shady Skin because it's freely available (I also recommend the MS skin repository here); other skins should be installed the same way. Please note that you can't use the above-linked skins on VGA devices. For them, you need to use specifically VGA-enabled ones. There're very few of them ATM. For example, Juni's excellent skin collection doesn't contain any VGA skins either. The same stands for the (free) themes available at Pocket PC Themes. The very few VGA-compatible themes available are all commercial (for example, Plastic VGA Windows Media Player 2.0). 2, the skin distribution package, most probably, have several image files and a .skn file in a subdirectory. Transfer this entire subdirectory to the "\Program Files\Windows Media Player" folder of your PPC – not just the files inside, but also the subdirectory itself! 3, go to Tools/Settings/Skin Chooser: click here for the screenshot 4, with the >> and << buttons, you can step between the available skins: click here for the screenshot 5, after having chosen the right one, just click the OK button in this dialog.- Werner Ruotsalainen's blog
