UPDATE (08/03/2006): make sure you don't miss http://www.smartphonemag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1096&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ! Yesterday and today, I've been busily posting a lot of answers & additional information to the Pocket PC Thoughts, MobilitySite and (to a lesser degree) BrightHand hx4700 WM5 2.0.1 upgrade-related threads. If you own a hx4700, want to upgrade to WM5 (or have already done so), make sure you follow those. I've also updated my main hx4700 WM5 2.0 upgrade-related article with links to my newer, 2.0.1- and RAM disk-related reports and articles.

You must install the "official" (commercial), "old", first, 2.0 WM5 upgrade first (on top of WM2003SE) and, only after that, the new, 2.0.1 upgrade.

The need for double installs is a bit of pain in the back; hopefully HP releases some time 2.0.1 as a stand-alone, purchasable upgrade for WM2003SE devices as well.

You have the WM5 ROM version 2.0; that is, you can safely install the new, 2.01 upgrade.

Yes, you will need to reinstall all your 3rd-party (add-on) programs you want to use from scratch after the upgrade.

Make sure you save / synchronize all your personal data (contacts etc) from the device BEFORE upgrading.
