Typing 300 Characters Per Minute. . . Is this Possible?

According to Cootek, their new application for Windows Mobile allows you to type upwards of 300 characters per minutes. According to the manufacture, this application deploys a patent-pending English input method and is demonstrated on THIS Youtube video.

Intro Page and Video

The keyboard consists of large buttons that represent multiple characters. A specific character is selected based on the direction of motion detected within a given virtual button. I can tell you from my software development experience that the quick input of characters based on the direction of motion detected by the tough screen is no small feet. Specially when speed of recognition and input processing seems very fast. If you have ever used the note pad to scribble or a signature capturing program, you will understand what I mean. Write too fast and the screen lags behind. Also, a finger tends to access a broader area of the screen causing input issues with the touchscreen. Touchscreens typically are not conducive to large areas of contact.

The program also supports auto word completion therefore should be a real cool addition for those that need to input large amounts of information on the run or when emergency situations call for a quick response.

I will post a hands-on review once I get the opportunity to take this application for a test run. For now, you can try it yourself and also check out the video HERE.

Thanks Jerry:

Your comments sound very encouraging and entices me to complete my other reviews that much quicker to get a chance to review this virtual keyboard.
