Photo Contacts PRO v4.01: A must-have for Phone Edition devices!

Surprisingly often, the writers at our magazine get asked "What software do you use on your personal device?" One of my favorite applications is Photo Contacts PRO from PocketX Software Inc. The company has released v4.01 which includes Treo compatibility and more. Click the "read more" link below for a screenshot of the software and a list of the new features they've just added.

Put simply, Photo Contacts PRO lets you dial visually. Rather than reading through a list of names in the Pocket PC Contacts application, you can quickly scan the pictures of all the people in your phone book (see photo below) and tap their picture to dial them. The application also adds the same photo to the Caller ID display on Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition/2003/2002 Photo Edition devices (Windows Mobile 5 has this feature built-in to the operating system).

Photo Contacts PRO lets you dial by photo, instead of searching for a contact by name.

Some of the features Version 4 adds include:

  • Windows Mobile 5 compatibility (including the Treo 700w)
  • Customizable profiles to customize call filtering, ring volume/type settings.
  • Today screen Tray Icon to change the profile in two taps
  • Ability to specify a distinctive ring or automatically reject "unknown" and "private" callers
  • Improved support for matching international phone numbers to your phonelist.
  • Improved skin support with the ability to skin the New Call Dialog and Answer/Ignore buttons.
  • The installed application size has been reduced to less than 1 MB

The Photo Contacts PRO is available for the Pocket PC Phone Edition for $29.95. For Windows Mobile Smartphone users, a less feature-packed version called PhotoContacts v2.0 for Smartphone is available for $19.95.
