New bugfix version, 1.01, of great Luxor clone DragonBall out!
It was just a few days ago that DragonBall, a completely new and, particularly for VGA users, highly recommended Luxor (please see this article for a complete roundup of Luxor, and, a very similar genre, Zuma clones) has been released. Now, a bugfix version has been produced.
As it's on VGA devices that this title really excels at, I’ve thoroughly tested the game on my freshly hard reset, clean (VGA) Dell Axim x51v and Pocket Loox 720 (the game is still (?) incompatible with the WM5-upgraded HP iPAQ hx4700 – and with PPC2k2 devices). I haven’t encountered the VGA screen refresh problem I’ve elaborated on in the review of version 1.0.
On the x51v, the game crashed completely on me once on starting Stage 1-3 (after a restart and continuing the game, I needed to complete stage 1-2 again because of the crash). Also, I’ve encountered gwes.exe crashes (which didn’t entirely crash the game – it just went on) two times before Stage 2-3. Also, Dragonball.exe once (of the many starts) crashed upon start. As with all the crashes on the Axim, this may be related to the latest, A12 ROM upgrade’s being a bit less stable than the previous, A06 one – I’ve (along with several other Dell Axim users) noticed the new Axim ROM version crashes more frequently than the old one. That is, these crashes are, it seems, not the fault of the game itself.
I have not encountered any kinds of crashes or problems on my Pocket Loox 720.
Verdict
Now that the game seems to be bugfree, I really recommend this title, particularly if you have a VGA device (again, as far as VGA devices are concerned, the title is a no-go for HP iPAQ hx4700 users that have upgraded to WM5!).
