Much as this conversion is not enabled by default in (at least newer versions - checked with 3.8+ - of) ActiveSync, if you do enable it (because the opposite is enabled by default), you may encounter problems when you directly need to transfer .BMP images to the PDA and you use Windows Explorer for this task (because it's easy to invoke on the PPC by just clicking the "Explore" button in ActiveSync). The most important area it may cause problems is installing new Pocket Windows Media Player (PWMP) skins. That is, if you plan to use PWMP skins but they just don't work and you notice .BMP files have become .2BP , go to Options/Rules/Conversion Settings/Desktop to Device and choose Bitmap Image from the list: click for screenshot In the drop-down list at the bottom, choose (null) (*.bmp) and click OK three times. Alternatively, you may opt for using Total Commander with the WinCE FS plug-in for transferring files. Then, your files won't be converted during transferring.
