After installing an application (for example, Smartsoft PocketCHAT) that uses the eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime (eVB for short) on a WM2003 or newer Pocket PC, you may see the following Web page when you try to run it: click for screenshot Upon clicking the "tap here" link to download the libraries, the page, http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/eVB, won't exist any more. It's because the link contained by the static Web page (physically, \Windows\evbruntime.htm on the PDA) is dead, even in a brand new WM2003SE device. This is certainly an oversight on behalf of Microsoft – to remove a page that is still referred to many current Pocket PC clients. (I've just found this bug.) Don't worry: you can still download and install the necessary eVB libraries from Microsoft – from another Web page. Go to this page, click the Proceed to Download button (you don't need to fill in anything); on the next page, click I Accept and save the CAB file, msvbppc.armv4.cab. Then, just transfer this file to your PDA and install it by just clicking it from Pocket File Explorer. Please keep in mind that you may install it to alternative (non-RAM) storage to keep the RAM free. Use either CabInstl or File Dialog Changer to install it into there (see this and this on this). An example screenshot of using CabInstl to install eVB to my File Store (named LOOXstore on my Pocket Loox 720): click for screenshot UPDATE (08/08/2006): it seems you can't install eVB onto storage cards under WM5, unlike under previous OS'es. You can, however, install it into the main storage.- Werner Ruotsalainen's blog
