Game Boy Advance (GBA for short) is a very popular portable gaming machine from Nintendo. It has quite advanced games and, therefore, there has always been a big demand for GBA emulators on other platforms. The Pocket PC is no exception - there are quite a few GBA emulators on this platform too. By far the best GBA emulator, the free PocketGBA, has always had the problem of the inability to read large (say, 32Mbyte) game cartridges on Pocket PC's with more free memory than 32Mbytes. In my roundup of the available GBA emulators, published some three months ago, I've also emphasized this. Now, the situation has changed - the new version, rel060418, released some hours ago, no longer has this restriction. To download it, go here and look for the link "PocketGBA_rel060418.zip (102.6 KB )" (no direct link can be given - the referer is checked). Also make sure you 1. increase the dynamic (program) memory if you have at least 36-37 Mbytes of free RAM but originally the dynamic (program) memory is given less than 32 Mbytes. To do this, you can both check out the (Japanese) screenshots available on the PocketGBA homepage or in this blog entry, where I've also explained the secrets of using the RAM memory slider. 2. read my previous GBA emulator roundup for more information. UPDATE (06/01/2006): a new version has been released in the meatime. Make sure you upgrade to it!- Login or Register to post comments
