Need a decent Super Mario Bros. clone? SuperTux has been ported to the Pocket PC!

Topics:

If you have, for example, a more recent SuSE linux distribution on your PC and you’ve installed the default package (you don't need to separately install install it in order to be present), just look into the Games/Arcade folder in the main menu, look for ‘Supertux’, play the game and imagine if you could do the same on the Pocket PC. (The desktop Windows installer can be found here and is highly recommended for anyone that wants a nice platform game!)

Up to now, few really decent Super Mario Bros. clones have been ported to the Pocket PC. While technically (unlike some of the alternate titles; for example, Quigley's Quest, OpenJazz or Gold Miner Joe) not the most spectacular, N.I’s excellent CR (part of the third N.I arcade game pack) has been the closest to the original so far.

This is no longer the case – SuperTux, which is far more spectacular than CR, has been finally ported to the Pocket PC and is available here for $9.95.

The package, according to the PocketGamer folks, also includes the source code.

Unfortunately, there’s no trial version (and, therefore, I couldn’t test the game either – if I manage to get a playable version, I’ll update this news item with my report and findings. Stay tuned!), which is a bit disappointing (ALL programs should have trial versions!).

Thanks! It wasn't particularly hot - between 22 and 30C (North-Center Finland; Iisalmi/Sonkajärvi).
