How do I change the User-Agent information in Pocket Internet Explorer?

Q: How do I change the User-Agent information in Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE)? That is, how do I "fool" the Web server into thinking I'm using a desktop browser? A: If you're familiar with editing the Registry (you may want to read this thread on the PPC registry editors), in most cases, simply changing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Version from "MSIE 4.0" to "MSIE 6.0" as described for example in this article on accessing Yahoo Mail from Pocket PC's (alternatives: PPCT iPAQ HQ, AximSite, PPC Magazine, BrightHand) will suffice. However, in a lot of cases, this can have an unwanted effects - also see the above-mentioned Yahoo-related article on this. If you don't want to manually hack the Registry to do this, use, for example, Tweaks2k2 (note that other, known "cleaner" and "system hack" apps that also have registry hack capabilities like SKTools, MemMaid, Space Reclaimer, Pocket Mechanic, Power Clean (in Battery Pack Pro) and FastCleanup - see this review - don't support changing this information), or, even better (they support in-PIE User Agent change), get MultiIE or PIEPlus, the two best PIE plug-ins; I've explained their User Agent change-related functionality in my PPCT frontpaged and iPAQ HQ sticky article on Pocket PC Web browsers (alternatives: FL. AximSite, PPC Magazine, BrightHand), along with other PPC browsers' (NetFront, Thunderhawk, Minimo) support for changing the User Agent information.
