I've finished testing the WM5 compliance of all the available Pocket PC IRC clients and, if you plan to run midlets, MIDP environments. The results are as follows (everything tested on a freshly hard reset Dell Axim x51v with the latest, A06 ROM): As far as native Pocket PC IRC clients are concerned,- wmIRC 2.1: fully compatible, except for the last message list (Command/Last Messages), which is always empty (see this screenshot), as opposed to running wmIRC under pre-WM5 operating systems
- PocketIRC 1.1: fully compatible (DCC also works)
- PocketCHAT 1.1.8: fully compatible (so is eVB, which is required to run)
- WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment Personal Profile 1.0 for Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Ed. 5.7.2 (aka IBM J9) is fully compatible with WM5; an example screenshot of it running WLIrc 2.0 is here
- CrEme 4.00b8: incompatible; it exits, complaining about a missing library
