How about forecasting the NWS Radar? Do it with PAW, and then stick it on your home-page!
The new wee PAW widget on me blog

One of our bloggers recently posted on using National Weather Service enhanced radar on your device, which is (yawn) very cool. I kid of course, as a former weather-dude I get all crazed just thinkin how cool that is!!! Of course, there are a "plethora" (sorry I watched 3 Amigos yesterday...;) ) of mobile weather tools available BUT PAW is my favorite! What is PAW, you ask? SHaaa...how about a mobile web-site hosted at the Space Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus by Russ Dengal--oh yeah, and one that uses forecast model data acquired from their very own index crunching super-computers to give you not only more cool weather stuff on your handheld, but the ability to view a forecasted loop of the radar conflagration (deal with that NWS!). Now you can also consume PAW on your PC browser in a handy widget on your Google personalized home page (you need a google account obviously), or stuff the PAW right on your own web-page (check it out on the right side of my crappy and somewhat neglected blog or click the link title above for the PAW webmaster version). Awwww, now ain't that cute?!!

I once upon a time wrote up a handy review of free weather services--which is in serious need of dusting off--for your handheld, and PAW was featured, so you can learn all about it here!
But wait! There's more!! No, you say...can't possibly be! PAW on the handheld, in Google, and on my web-page? Nate, stop the pain! You're telling us about too much cool weather stuff!! Our brains can't take the coolness of it! Go now and watch 2 days of the weather channel, and I promise you'll feel better. I was saying...
PAW now has charts for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with streamlines and more! OK, now that I ranted about PAW, I also really like having base velocity and pretty map backgrounds on the new-fangled and enhanced version of the NWS site, so might test out Werner's findings. Scottie, full ahead and right rudder (whatever that means), and new scan strategy...incoming nimbostratus with embedded thunderstorms! Hail spike, and TVS!! Abort!! Where was I??...Shoot, I practically cut my radar teeth on the FPQ-21 and WSR-88D wayyy back in the day...had a flashback there!
