The Coming of AMOLED Displays, HD2 Reviews, Skyfire 1.5
Frankly, I’d been seeing AMOLED displays being touted as a feature on some new phones but wasn’t sure what that was. This week we’ll take a brief look at that, as well as note some more HD2 reviews and the release of a new version of the free Skyfire browser.
AMOLED Displays Cropping Up
We’re starting to see AMOLED displays in some of the new phones, notably AT&T’s HP iPAQ Glisten and Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II. So what is AMOLED and how is it different?

Bing Mobile, Google Maps for Mobile, Omnia Pro, iPAQ Glisten
I like Microsoft’s Bing search engine, so it’s great to see them continuing to develop it for the mobile space. This week we’ll note a new version of Bing for Windows Mobile, as well as a new version of Google Maps for Mobile. Also, I’ll point you to reviews of the new AT&T iPAQ Glisten and Omnia Pro phones.

Multiplatform(!) review: Opera Mobile 10 beta released!
I’ve thoroughly tested the brand new Opera Mobile 10 beta on all the supported mobile phone platforms (Windows Mobile Professional / Standard and Symbian S60). In general, apart from some problems, I liked what I saw – particularly on Symbian and the touchscreen version of Windows Mobile.
The browser is available for download HERE for both operating systems. For Windows Mobile, a unified download (for both subtypes) is provided.

Office Mobile 2010, Opera Mobile 10, Verizon Samsung Omnia, More HD2
A free beta of Office Mobile 2010 was released last week for WM 6.5 devices. And Opera Mobile 10, perhaps the best Windows Mobile browser, was also released as a free beta. This week we’ll also note the imminent arrival of the Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II and look at more videos of the HD2 software.

REVIEW: New Windows Mobile Web browser "Dorothy"
I’ve waited until now so that I can give the developers some time to enhance it so that I can recommend it. Unfortunately, the (today) current version, 0.2.2, still only has files dating back to August. (Compare this to the frequency (in general, at least one per month) of updates arriving to the now-extinct Iris, which was also based on WebKit.)

Web browser BOLT 1.5 out; comparison published
Opera Mini forum user / Serola has published an extensive, great comparison between it, Opera Mini 4.2 and UCWEB 6.3 HERE.

HTC Touch Pro2 from AT&T, WM 6.5 Upgrades, Bing for Windows Mobile
With the HTC Touch Pro2 now available from T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint, AT&T is the lone holdout. Rumors have pegged it for October 18. This week we’ll also talk about whether to upgrade from a Touch Pro to Touch Pro2 and about upgrades for older devices. And, for the sake of variety, we’ll briefly note a new app for using Bing.

Google Maps, Mobile Marketplace, New Verizon Device
We’ll begin this week with news about a substantial update to Google Maps and about the forthcoming Windows Marketplace for Mobile, but the most timely news is a new device from Verizon — and the strong prospect that Verizon or Sprint could come out with the Toshiba TG01, the hot new device with a speedy processor and a 4.1-inch screen.

The One and only Real iPhone Web Browser Roundup
I’ve just published a roundup of current Web browsers under iPhone OS 3.0 with WM-related remarks as well. A goldmine for Windows Mobile browser developers – it’s always worth knowing what browsers on other mobile platforms are capable of, what features Windows Mobile lacks etc.

Another revolutionary multiplatform utility by me: add "find in page" support to most mobile web browsers!!!
I’ve long been complaining about the lack of any “find in page” functionality in most mobile Web browsers. Now that I’ve played a bit with JavaScript scriptlets, I can proudly present a working solution to this problem.
All you need to do is, independent of the Web browser you use, add the following favorite:
