Did you try overclocking the device? It might help.

Unfortunately, there're no WM5 upgrades for the 1940. Not even a WM2003SE upgrade.

I should remove the registry import file because, as of 2.01, it's no longer needed. (As is, incidentally, pointed out in the linked 2.01-related articles.)

What does happen if you disable the Today plug-ins? What exactly happens?

The folks over at MobilitySite say it's really cool. Will test it tomorrow.

OIC. You could remove other parts of the registry file too to find out what the problem is caused by.

Nevertheless, if you don't import it at all, you don't lose much - its effect is far lower compared to the clever usage of the built-in Storage.

Murray, I don't know what the problem is caused by. Maybe the memory card caching (which is totally independent of the built-in storage caching).

You can disable memory card caching entirely by just removing the related section from the registry import file. This won't have any effect on the rest of the registry import: that is, it will still override the Registry/WinCE flush and the built-in storage caching parameters. All you will need to do is just removing the following section from the reg. import:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\FATFS]
"Flags"=dword:00000046
"EnableFatCacheWarm"=dword:00000001
"EnableDataCacheWarm"=dword:00000000
"EnableCacheWarm"=dword:00000000
"EnableCache"=dword:00000001
"FatCacheSize"=dword:00000080
"DataCacheSize"=dword:00000400
"Paging"=dword:00000001

Let me know if you still have the same problem after importing the registry file with the removed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ System\ StorageManager\FATFS import!
