Earl, currently, only PPC's can be hacked to support DUN, not Smartphones.

Now that you know its local IP, you could try running a HTTP proxy on the Internet-connected SPL. Then, I'm absolutely sure at least the Web will be accessible from your iPAQ.

Unfortunately, as the SPL is a MS Smartphone, I'm not sure you'll be able to run any of them as they're (including Java VM's) all written to the PPC (see http://www.smartphonemag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=453&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1#more453 ). It, however, may be worth trying to run even Pocket PC-specific apps to see whether they work.

Did you try checking your PAN connection with vxUtil? Just check whether you have a valid IP and whether you can ping (in order to get both IP's of the devices, run vxUtil on both of them to see their IP's) the other device.

Give a try to using alternative Web browsers on the iPAQ - they may help, particularly because they don't depend on the Internet / Work disctinction or system-level proxy settings.

Sure you can - but, in this case, the situation is the opposite - the connected device (a notebook / desktop PC / another PDA) wants to access the Net only available on / via the Pocket PC Phone Edition device.
