TOCA, can you provide me with a link to these forums? I've searched for "modem" on both the BrightHand and the MobilitySite / AximSite 210 forums - in vain.

(In general, if PAN doesn't work, you can always fall back to BT DUN after installing my patch.)

Hal, I really don't think you can use "BT Phone Manager" to use your Tilt, which is, being WM6, a BT PAN (Internet Sharing)-only device. I may be wrong though.

First, try to pair the two devices with each other. Do you see "BT PAN" or "LAN" from the Kaiser in the BT services listed on your 210? Also, do you see "Dial-up networking"? If the latter is (also) present, then, it'll be very easy to set up the connection. If the former (only), then, wel'll need to do either some manual hacking (installing my DUN hack for the easiest possible connection OR every time making a BT PAN network between the two devices).

Werner, thanks! I am finally using the iPAQ 210 that we couldn't get out of customs in Spain. I haven't had much time with it yet, but browsing the net is great -- very readable.

We published Al H's review of the 210 in the latest (Mar/Apr) issue. We plan to publish several follow-up articles in following issues. I am sure we'll swipe some of this material and be contacting you with more questions off-line.

Question to you or Al to save me a little time: what are the steps I need to do to connect my Tilt and 210 so I can use the Tilt as a modem via Bluetooth?

Thanks for posting these Werner!

Couple of notes - the devices in the picture are (from left to right) - iPAQ 110, iPAQ 210, and iPAQ 4700. My 4700 doesn't seem very bright - not sure if it is just old or the 210 is just that much brighter. At full brightness it is VERY bright so that could be...

Regarding phone... the 110 and 210 have an application called "BT Phone Manager" which will connect to your phone via Bluetooth and let you utilize the phone as a modem (assuming you have a data plan).

Thanks again for the great article!

-al
