When you write an article such as this, be prepared to get a lot of flaming but I guess you already expected that :D

Rather than add on to it, I think everyone here missed the bigger picture: you buy a phone or a device for that matter because it suits your needs. It doesn't matter if it's an iPhone or a Windows Mobile or even a normal phone. If I am going into the jungle and satellite phones are my only option, what good is either?

So rather than attack the author on writing something that's garbage, consider that these are what are lacking in the iPhone and if anyone who is looking to buy one should use it for consideration instead.

For me, cutting and pasting, while not important, has been useful from time to time. I don't have an infra red so it's not really a big deal for me. There may be a lot of applications but I don't install all of them. But what's important is that I find applications that serve my needs. Huge capacity? Why would I need them when I use my 4G iPod for music? At least I don't have to worry about the battery dying (as I hate bringing out spare batteries anyway with all the charging and switching but that's just me).

So lighten up people. No device is perfect. It all depends on what you are looking for. Give an elderly a phone for them to communicate and chances are they would choose a basic phone over the iPhone or WM one. Does that make either one a poor choice then?
