I'd like to see your thoughts about how Opera Mobile 9.5 works with the HTC Touch Pro's Zoom pad. Also, for serious browsing, having the option of going two-handed with the keyboard popped out makes the Fuze/Opera Mobile the best browsing device (for me.)

 Thanks for the remarks.

Thanks for the remarks. This time, I didn’t really have the time to publish some benchmark results. Nevertheless, more or less, the ones in the old articles still apply. At least they give some insight on how the individual browsers used to utilize the cache; in general, PPC devs don’t really concentrate on fixing these issues - except, mostly, for the Opera folks, who read all my articles and try to fix all the problems / bugs I find. Nevertheless, Opera Mobile was already the fastest browser when it comes to storing large numbers of files in the cache last time I checked – I don’t think they could improve this even more.

If you’re absolutely sure it’s caching (writing the files to the file system; that is, in this case, the RAM) that is slowing down Opera Mobile, try to disable it entirely. Did you look around in the config menu you can bring up via opera:config?

Thanks for your great

Thanks for your great article and thoroughness in testing. It really helps many of us out in deciding the optimal device usage. Glad you're still around and posting.

Anyways, one thing that perhaps you can add is a speed comparison between the browsers. As awesome as Opera Mobile is, even using a Ramdisk cache4, it's still much much slower than Opera Mini at the moment for me, and Mini is compatible with the majority of sites I visit.

I just started using Mini too, after reading your articles and recommendations. Hopefully I'll be able to make it my primary browser and integrate it with my TouchFlo 3D via SSMaPa.

Cheers
