Hi,
The APN is network specific. When you dial *99***1# (true GPRS) you are selecting the first APN address in the phone. You will probably need to add an extra command string in the dialup connection +cgdcont=1,"IP","internet" The name "internet" is the specific APN for networks such as Vodafone (most) and Sonera. For O2 (UK) it is different. For internet no password or username is likely to be needed.
Once the PDA is connected to GPRS the phone will show a spinning world icon.
WAP is slightly different as you will need to dial a normal number such as 01234 567890 and a PW and username will be required.
Cheers
Kevbert.

BTW, speakers of Hungarian should check out my 170kchar-long article on using any dial-up technologies from any WinCE/PalmOS device athttp://menneisyys.freeweb.hu/gprs . (No English version as yet, sorry.)

Your connection may be set to use 'Work' instead of 'The Internet'.
Well, if you're able to access your e-mail from inside your Pocket PC, then, you do have full-fledged GPRS.

Well I can now download my Yahoo e-mails. But I still can't access webpages.
How would I confirm whether I have a WAP or real GPRS connection on my phone?

Are you absolutely sure you have a real GPRS subscription, and not just a much cheaper, but almost useless GPRS WAP? It seems (you're able to access WAP pages from your phone but nothing from your PDA) you have the latter.

Hi can someone advise me.
I have paired my K700i to my Loox720.
I have set up a GPRS connection via bluetooth using the code *9***2#
A connection between the phone and PPC is established and held.
But when ever I try to navigate to a page using either Netfront 3.1 or PIE I get the error message "Cannot read page. Check connection. Type: TCP connect". from Netfront 3.1
or "The page you are looking for cannot be found" from PIE.
GPRS is set up on the phone as I can send and receive picture messages (I can even access by yahoo mail via wap on the phone).
I can browse the net if I connect via a dial up number (but it's a tad expensive).
Anyone got any ideas?

If you have Wap pre-defined in the first of the so-called 'data accounts' of your mobile phones, then, you may have the luck to have the 'real' GPRS Net predefined in other accounts. This is not guaranteed to work because your phone may not contain it pre-defined, but is still worth giving a try.
Now that you've set up data account, we'll modify the dial-in number and/or the init string. The latter passes the so-called 'APN' name to the phone so that it knows where to connect to.
1, click the 'Connectivity' icon on the above taskbar. It's situated left to the loudspeaker
icon.
2, click Settings inside the bubble
3, click Advanced, and the Select Networks button
4, in the upper 'Programs that automatically connect to the Internet..." drop-down menu, choose "Bluetooth Settings" (if it's not pre-chosen) and press the Edit button just under it
5, on the following screen, "Bluetooth Settings", you'll see one radio button, which has a name you've given your connection. Press Edit.
6, on the next screen you can rename your connection (you may do it). Press Next.
6, the next screen, Enter the number exactly", is much more interesting. It's here that you can modify the dial-in number. Instead of *99#, try the following numbers (after entering, press Next and Finish once and then, start the connectionby clicking the above-mentioned Connectivity taskbar icon and choose the link from it that has the number you've just entered):
*99***1#
*99***2#
..
*99***10#
If any of them actually connects to the Net, you don't need to do anything else. If none of them, you need to ask your mobile operator about their APN. Once you know the APN, you can enter it in the so-called 'init/extra string' input field. More on this later, if you aren't able to connect with the pre-installed mobile data accounts.

( the mobile tried to connect me to a specific Wap WEB or is it something technical ? have i to change the standard wap adress or something else to connect ?)

(1, pair your devices in Bluetooth Manager - if you haven't done so so far, it isn't a problem, though)
2, choose New/Connect! afte rthis
3, choose 'Explore a Bluetooth device'
4, tap the 'Device: <No device selected>, Tap here to choose a davice' window
5, choose your k700
6, choose Dial-up Networking (DUN from now)
7, press Next; you'll be put in the "Bleutooth - My Shortcuts' window. There,
8, click the newly-created K700 (or the name of your phone) DUN icon several times until a new screen comes up
9, click 'New Connection' in the 'Select a connection to use:' list, double-click it
10, give the connection a name (can be anything) and fill in the phone number. For start, just enter *99# here. OK.
11, if you haven't paired your devices, you will be promtpted for this. Just enter the same code, say, '1', on both devices
12, a new screen comes up: "Network Log On". You most probably won't have a GPRS username/password (if you DO have, however, it's where they must be inserted). Just check in Save password, and press OK.
13, now, the phone will try to connect.
14, if it isn't able to connect to GPRS, tell me and I'll explain what data accounts are and how they can be managed on both the phone and the PDA.
