Choosing which access point to attach to

At my place of work we have two wireless network names, my Dell Axim X30 and a few of my colleauges more often than not attach to the wrong one. I can't seem to avoid attaching to the wrong one no matter what I try, I have even put in some really funky settings under the 'Network key' tab, sometimes this helps more often than not it dosn't. With an awful lot of trial and error I can get it onto the right access point but the process is very inconsistant and always entails a warm reboot. The Access point names are XXX-ATR-WLAN-1 & XXX-ATR-WLAN-2, it would be great if it defaulted to 1, but it always attaches to 2. Is there a way to set a preferred access point, or to use some sort of location profile so that it ignores WLAN-2. Thanks

It's the best to disable WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration) entirely. Use, for example, the utility fromhttp://www.dcs.gla.ac.uk/~hall/WZCDisabler.zip to do this.
After disabling WZC, if you enable Wi-Fi, it won't automatically connect to anything. You will be able to do the same from under a third-party program like WiFiFoFum (http://www.wififofum.org/ ) for free (unencrypted) networks or the Odyssey client (http://www.funk.com/radius/wlan/wlan_c_radius.asp ) for secure networks.
You may also want to read the following threads where I've also discussed this problem (and related questions) a lot:

Thanks
I'll check out some of those other threads, I take it that if you disable WZC, it will also prevent the PocketPC from autoconnecting to wireless hotspots. For me thats not a problem, but I know some of my colleagues have BT openzone accounts.
