REMOVE PROGRAMS window to small?

Due to a bad (?) function I had to re-install my DELL AXIM 3.Everything works nice but when I go to STTINGS - SYSTEM and then REMOVE PROGRAMS i don't find a gliderbar on the right side as, it seems, that the cadre is greater then the screen.
I can see only 9 programs and I have many more on my PPC.
What can I do??
Thanks for helping.[:)]

Thanks all for helping.

Bob, I don't know. I did "someting wrong " and suddenly everything disapeared. Maybe I should do a hard reset again.

Please elaborate on what you have done. It may be fixed without a hard reset. If you don't mind a hard reset (you have a backup/you have few programs to install again), however, doing it may be a good choice.

Thanks all for helping.

Looks to me you need to do a hard reset.
Did you do a hard reset before re-installing your applications the first time?

Bob

Well, strange problem. I've never seen like this on my several Pocket PC devices and five years of using Pocket PC's - a too-long program name won't push out the slider so that it even becomes invisible.

Fortunately, you still have several choices:

- you can still uninstall programs on a desktop via ActiveSync, simply going to Tools / Add/Remove Programs, checking out the given app and clicking either Remove (if you want to remove the CAB file from ActiveSync too) or OK (if you only want to remove the app from your PPC). See my tutorial athttp://smartphonemag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=15328 on a related subject - it's about relocating (not removing) apps, but the first stage of relocating an app is removing it, and the article does show how it's done.

- if you aren't afraid of some registry editing/hacking (you, or, in general, any PPC user shouldn't be because by some regis4try hacking you can save tons of main memory and have a lot of other goodies), you may also cast a glance at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apps. It's from here that Settings/System/Remove Programs reads all uninstall information. If you remove any group from under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apps, they won't be visible in Settings/System/Remove Programs next time you start it, after removing the given group.

I show you an example. Let's assume you want to remove, say, BetaPlayer from the list below:

You go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apps with a suitable registry editor (I recommend Resco Registry Editor because it has both export and import capabilities, unlike its alternatives) and tap-and-hold 'BetaPlayer BetaPlayer':

Choose Delete from the pop-up menu. When the next dialog box is presented:

just choose Delete or Delete All.

Now, the list won't contain BetaPlayer at all:

Please note that if you remove a program uninstall info this way from the system, it won't be visible to Tools / Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync. This is why I recommended making a backup of the keys you want to delete before deleting them. To do this, from the pop-up menu (see the second screenshot), just choose Export before choosing Delete. Exporting a key will only export THAT key and, therefore, can be restored later (by simply going to File/Import in Resco Registry Editor.

Also note that some keys should NOT be deleted from there, for example, anything that starts with Microsoft (Microsoft Application Installer, Microsoft Corp Pictures).

Feel free to ask further questions.
