Frequency Generator Software ?!

I want a software that can generate (via Pocket PC speaker) a frequency that I enter it's value ?

also, I wanted to know what is the maximum limit of frequency that the Pocket PC speaker can generate (with NO Damage to the speaker) ??

I am asking all of this
because I want to use that program (that i told you before about it)
to generate an ultra-sonic frequency
that can control (stop) Dog's Barking,
(I think it is possible, right ?).

If you have any ideas Please let me know them Thanks a lot . BYE

Checkout www.frequencygen.com for an accurate generator with piezo transducer (.1Hz to 40kHz).

or how about piezo tweater speaker ?

Thanks for the links.

The white noise generator explained in the last link doesn't produce/use ultrasound-only sounds; on the contrary, it uses the entire perceivable sound frequency area. That is, it's useless to get any specialized ultrasound speakers for using it.

As far as noise generators are concerned, please read this blog entry.

another functions which we can think is a White noise generator. where we can generate non audible sound, so no recorder can record our conversations in a room. this is usefull for contra spy.

and how about using external speaker which can generate high freq ?

anybody have more info about this topics ?

Are you sure it'd work? AFAIK, most microphones aren't sensible in the >20 kHz frequency area; therefore, filling the room with ultrasound white noise won't help.

BTW, I've described using the frequency generator in iPlay here

I'm just working on a new, grand roundup of PPC sound recorders, including iPlay (http://iplay.40th.com/). It has a very good and configurable stereo tone generator with two independent channels, settable from/to frequencies and phase between the two channels. Unfortunately, it's restricted to work in the 20 Hz-20 kHz frequency range; you can't set higher frequencies (to, for example, find out which is the best to call your dog/chase away the mosquitoes.)

Interesting post. I seriously doubt that any pocketpc has a speaker capable of transmitting a 30K Hz audio tone...which is the bottom limit of normal dog whistles (30-40K Hz). And if by luck there actually was one...I doubt it would be loud enough to be effective. A mechanical air-oscillatory dog whistle produces about 50+ db of sound.

There're some frequency generator apps that you can use. Please note that I don't remember the maximal frequency these apps are able to generate (I've tested this program some months ago for another post onto a non-English board -http://www.pdamania.hu/forum/forum1.php3?topic=140&messagesSET=1&messagePerPage=9000 ; see post 2144); you'll need to check them yourself.

As for the frequency response of the Pocket PC, I don't think the upper limit is restricted to much lower frequency than 20 kHz. Also, most sound amplifiers in PPC's are pretty good, frequency response-wise, so, they surely amplify sounds well over 10 kHz too. Of course, a given PPC model may have a buzzer that is unable to play this frequency - it's buzzer-dependent.

The first app I recommend is a free one, Pocket Oscillator, available athttp://www.freewareppc.com/multimedia/pocketoscillator.shtml . Quite a good one. Unfortunately, it's no longer developed and doesn't work on the iPAQ 2210.

Much more restricted is the otherwise best spectrum analyzer SW, Pocket RTA,http://www.ppc4all.com/appdetail.php?id=2640 . It is only able to generate 1, 2, 4 and 8 kHz sinus waves - therefore, you may not want to use it.

A third app is the Handheld Audio Spectrum Analyzer (HASA) ( www.pdatopsoft.com/PocketPC/Handheld-Audio-Spectrum-Analyzer-(HASA) ). In here, you can't specify an exact frequency to be played. Click "Oscillator On/Off" in "Notes". Then, just click the upper part of the screen, where the frequency domain is depicted.

Of course, all these 3 apps do much more than just a simple, fixed-frequency sinus generator. For a quick test, however, to test your dog's reactions / if the buzzer of your PDA is able to play it, (some of) they may be nice. Then, you can just ask somebody to write an app for you that emits the given frequency - it's pretty easy to write in C#, with the CF libraries, I'm sure.

EDIT: please note that the Handheld Audio Spectrum Analyzer (HASA) URL ends in (HASA). Without it, you'll be taken to a different page. Add this manually to the URL!
