Power supply for the X50

Does any one know what the out put ratings are for the Dell X50 power supply? Volts and Amps?

The Axim x50(v) series can also be charged/used with somewhat higher input voltages than the standard 5V. (That is, up to 5.4-5.5 Volts.) This, however, doesn't mean it won't work with 5V chargers; for example, some car charger/factory power packs meant especially for the x50(v) are 5V only (see for example the cheap Boxwave charger - please note that it's 5V/1Amper only, so, Amperage-wise, it may be not sufficient. So is Dell's own Power Pack – it's also 5V only.

The other, also for the x50 meant, car charger, the Javoedge one, also meant for the x50 series, has the output of 5.4V, but, again, only at 1 Amper.

This is why I only recommend the car charger from Dell over the two previous chargers, which is 2A.

BTW, I've just found this USB/AC/car charger comparison – it's also well worth reading, as far as the maximal Amperage is concerned. Unfortunately, it only discusses the x50 and not the x50v.

Bottom line: it'll work with both 5V and 5.4V chargers, assuming they are driving the Axim through the correct socket pin. What do I mean on the latter? Please read this thread on the secrets of charging the Axim – it's far more complicated than with most other PDA's.

5.4 Volt DC 2.41 Amp. That is what is written on the craddle.
It is VERY important when you buy a 12 volt car charger cable for the axim 50v, that is able to give 2 amp at 5.4 volt. The axim draws a lot of current (amps) even on its standard size battery.
