I just moved over from the Palm side.
Being a linguist, I need to insert special unicode caracters into databases and word processing files. So I would like to ask some questions in order to identify possible software:
Which database accepts unicode?
How may I transmit the unicode caracters to the database or word processor? (is there a function like in Windows Word where I just click on a caracter in a Unicode font in order to insert: Insert Symbol?)
Is it possible to train software like transcriber or calligrapher to insert those signs (above ASCII 255) into files? I could do it (not with Unicode) in Palm with Tscript.
Thanks in advance

It will - you can freely make your own charmaps if the built-in ones (there're pre-defined national keyboards for tons of human languages in the app) don't suffice.

Thanks very much for your informative reply. I had a look at the two products. Being an owner of the x50v, the free utility not supporting VGA, will not work for me. The other one is quite interesting (topkey). Do you know if it will work with UNICODE fonts?

One of the easiest (and free!) way to do this is using PHM Character Map from the PHM Pocket PC PowerToys 0.18. Please readhttp://smartphonemag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=18616 on installing it. Please also note that it won't work on VGA devices. With that, you can choose any Unicode character any time:
(note that, as can be seen, some buttons like to 'get stuck'. This doesn't have a bad effect on actual typing, though.)
Alternatively, you may want to give a try to PDAmill TopKey if you'd prefer a national, fully configurable keyboard. it's not free, though.
