Wi-fi Sync on Windows Mobile 5.0

I just purchased a new iPAQ 1950 and would like to syncronize my PDA with my computer using wi-fi. Unfortunately I learned after puchasing the unit that Microsoft has disabled this feature on ActiveSync 4.0 for security reasons. (Does this bother anyone but me?) Does anyone know of a "work around" or third party software to solve this problem? If not, is it possible to install a previous version of ActiveSync and use it with my iPAQ and Windows Mobile 5.0? Thanks!

FWIW...It bugs me also, but there is not a whole lot we can do about it except rant...[8D]

1, you can only use 4.0+ ActiveSync (AS) with WM5.
2, you can't sync via Wi-Fi, only via BT, as far as wireless synching is concerned. (Incidentally, AS 4 has other, TCP/IP/Networking-related synchronization limitations too, explained throroughly in Chris De Herrera's excellent article on AS4. Note that it says backup/restore is missing from AS4 - it certainly isn't.)
Unfortunately, there're no known methods/3rd party apps of circumventing this limitation.

http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2005/05/22/420884.aspx - an MSDN blog; it explains how VS can communicate with WM5 PDA's via Wi-Fi, by avoiding using AS. That is, it's useless for Wi-Fi AS synching.
