iPaq 4150 WPA setup problem

Hey folks - my first time here so please be gentle with me. I'm not completely ignorant of this IT stuff, but this wireless bit has me baffled. I have a wireless netwrok at home and have set it up with WPA-PSK (tkip) security. My iPAQ4150 is supposed to support WPS-PSK, and I have the latest ROM updates and wireless patches, but I cannot get the ipaq to connect. By having SSID set to broadcast on the router the ipaq sees there is a network. When I go in to make all the settings I check the SSID, select the WPA-PSK security and enter the key. On the 802.1x tab the 'Use IEEE 802.1x network access control' option is ticked and greyed out, when I select either the 'smart card or certificate' or 'PEAP' EAP type and click properties I get an error saying 'Cannot log on to the wireless network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you.' I do not know if this is the problem, but I don't know what sort of certificate I should have or how to set it up. Also I note that on the general tab if I select 'connects to work', hit OK then go back in to the settings it's changed back to 'The internet'. In the configure wireless netwroks window the network is shown with 'connected' or 'available' alongside it but I cannot browse the internet, and the two way arrow symbol at the top of the screen has a little x against it. I've also just tried turning off the g-nitro option on the router (Belkin) - the iPaq now sees there is a network available, and asks for the key, but when I type it in it says the key is wrong. Any ideas? Thanks, Jonathan

Is the network key the same as the password that users have to type to access the wireless network? If so do I have to convert it to hex before typing it on my ppc or can I type the password as it is.

The problem I'm having is that my iPAQ 2495 won't accept a 26 digit hex network key. The buffer fills up before you get it all keyed in.

Solved the issue. I have also an ipaq 4150 and a belkin router.
When looking at the ipaq when configuring WPA, you will see the IP received from the router is garbled. The solution therefore is to connect to the router once, with NO security enabled whatsoever, on both ipaq and router, so the ipaq generates an entry in the Network Adress Table (check on your router!). After that, enable WPA in whatever setting you prefer on all machines, and voila!
BTW: you do have to install latest patches / rom updates from HP of course before that, or WPA won't work.

The access point needs to be in an 802.11b/g MIXED mode or an 802.11b ONLY mode in order for your iPAQ to connect.
Beyond that here is how I have my iPAQ 5555 configured to use WPA-PSK (TKIP)...

Make sure you keep tapping Ok and back all the way out of the Connection Manager after making changes.
