The hands-on demo of the HP BT GPS was infinitely cool at CTIA/Pocket PC Summit!http://www.pocketpcsummit.com Picture this: a stretch Hummer limo about seven windows long, cheetah patterned seats, disco lights inside of the ceiling and interior walls, and drinks all around. Best of all, the stretch Hummer was well stocked with new 4000 series iPAQs and HP Bluetooth GPS! (I really wanted to stay in this setting all night...)
See more Hummer and HP GPS images from Pocket PC Summit/CTIA here:http://sf.mobilecomputingsig.com/pocketpcsummit_ctia.htm Details about the HP Bluetooth GPS:http://www.shopping.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpdirect/shopping/scripts/product_detail/product_detail_view.jsp?product_code=FA196A%23ABA&script_name=product.cgi GPS was hot and heavy at CTIA/Pocket PC Summit! [;)] Not only was GPS represented in more than one session, there was an LBS challenge launched, a number of location based services/GPS navigation booths, and the MOST memorable HP Bluetooth GPS reception event, of course. Since you asked David, I posted a picture of myself (above) in the stretch Hummer with the HP Bluetooth GPS and 4000 series iPAQ. Here is a link to the other related images from Pocket PC Summit/CTIA:http://sf.mobilecomputingsig.com/pocketpcsummit_ctia.htm

The HP iPAQ Bluetooth GPS has the power advantage in Vegas (and elsewhere) of lasting a couple hours longer than most other Bluetooth GPS. It feels like one of the expectations in Las Vegas is endurance, such as staying active the latest...
Since HP has such a strong and GOOD reputation (maybe a little too conservative), you have to give them a lot of extra credit for embracing the true Vegas spirit!!! (NAVTECH deserves credit too:http://www.navtech.com)
A stretch Hummer filled with HP Bluetooth GPS and iPAQs was so ultimately COOL that it seems like a mobile fantasy... I'm glad that I took some pictures or I might have started thinking that I dreamt it up...

It is a bit more robust than the Emtac/Socket/CoPilot and therefore should have a longer battery life. I expect that it will have one to two hours longer battery life. I am in the midst of testing it...
It is more similar to a Globalsat Bluetooth receiver: On Oct., 15, 2003 Taipei Globalst announced that its BT-308 Bluetooth GPS receiver has been recognized by HP to be bundled with HP's PDAs in the U.S. market.http://www.globalsat.com.tw/web/index.php

Hi Shawna:
Is it coincidence or does the HP BT GPS look like some of the other BT GPS's like the

Any idea if this is an actual Hp product or an OEM version made by Emtac?
The reason I ask is if this product is an OEM unit then the specs and performance should be pretty much the same.
