Encrypt your storage card
Submitted Monday, July 23, 2007
Storage card encryption lets you protect files saved to a storage card on your device. Once encrypted, the card can only be accessed from the encrypting device or via ActiveSync Explorer when the encrypting device is connected to a desktop PC.
- From the Start menu on any device, go to Settings >Encryption.
- Check the box labeled “Encrypt files placed on storage cards.”
TIP: This feature protects data on cards that have been removed from the card slot. If the card is still in the slot and someone gets a hold of your device, they can access the data. To protect against this, password protect the device (see “How to password protect your Windows Mobile device” in the Learning section).
