TUTORIAL: everything you need to know about Flash Lite 3 and playing back Flash web videos

Now that I, at last, have had some free time, I’ve very thoroughly tested the (by the XDA-Devs folks) recently released and freely deployable Flash Lite 3.1, which is quite much a step in the right direction.

Dell Axim x50(v), hx4700, hx2xxx users, attention: WM5+ automatic Filesys.exe patcher released!

I’ve published several articles on the Filesys.exe compaction problems. At first, I had the time to release (manually) custom-patched throttler apps for people requesting them in e-mails. (Sorry for all the folks that I simply didn’t have the time for. I’ve been very-very busy lately – not that I’d complain: given the current economic situation, it’s great to have any kind of a (decent) job.)

Some months ago, XDA-Devs forum member “cook” has written a quick patcher app that does this (semi-)automatically.

Opera Mini + (W)VGA users, attention: a hacked, VGA-friendly Jbed version has been released!

(Technical note: as of 01/02/2009 2:57 AM CET, the images in the article and the mirrored download aren’t accessible. Hope they’ll become available in about 10 hours. That is, make sure you check back in 10-15 hours if you’d really want to see them. Sorry for the inconvenience - my database back-end has been having problems and the CS people have been away.)

Ultimate Comparison of the iPhone 3G to other Mobile operating systems and devices - Part I

At last, I was able to afford an iPhone 3G without an expensive data / phone plan (meaning a much higher starting price). Of course, I've been playing with the device since then. See my review HERE.

Personal note: yes, I'm still here

I haven't had the time to post anything the last few weeks.

REVIEW & COMPARISON: Spb Online

The Spb folks have just released their online portal, Spb Online. Three other reviews have already been published (some hours ago) on it. Therefore, I've paid special attention to elaborating on issues not discussed in the other reviews, particularly when it comes to comparing Spb Online to the competing alternatives – after all, I've published several articles on several areas Spb Online implemented: radio and TV streaming, podcasting and multiplayer games.

A much more advanced RMVB player is out!

You may remember my previous article on playing back RMVB (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) videos on Windows Mobile. Back then, the only hack available was pretty much useless: it only ran on Marvell (ex-Intel) Xscale CPU's and delivered a really inferior performance (very low video speed, useless for watching anything).
